Category: Let's talk
Just wondering if there have been any meet-ups in the past? What are your thoughts on one? Interested? Not keen? The other one? Would it be feasible? Ideas?
Not seen anything discussed myself dusty, but I'd be keen to go to one yeah. Be a laugh to find somewhere as central as we can, and do something.
I'd Definitely be interested in meeting, well, at least some of you. lol. Maybe we should organise something.
Yeah! I think it would be fun. It would cost a lot of money, though... Hmmmm. Maybe there's some kind of event we could all plan to go to. I don't know... Sounds cool, though.
Well it would certainly cost a lot of money for you if you come over from California lol
My initial idea was for something like a weekend somewhere fairly central (Midlands for example) where we could either be fairly self-contained for activities and/or go out to an event. Obviously we'd have to consider different peoples' budgets and go for something fairly cheap and cheerful, as well as try and fix some kind of timescale.
I'm very flexible though ...
yeah, you can all come to my house, West Midlands... I'll get back to you on directions... *coff coff*
but I'll agree to the Midlands it is central after all, nothing to do with the fact that I Live up here now
well. i from here, could have a chance to find something not extremely expensive, there are many people on here i'd like to meet, and some i probably will never see, but going to the uk shouldn't be that much of a problem for me
Right, we've had one person commit who doesn't even live here! So you UK.based zoners have *no* excuse! Lol
Well, about 6 of us met up 4 or so years ago, and many others have done in small groups, so why we couldn't organise something, even if it's to get together and exterminate the current crop of RNC students. lmao
I'd love to see you again dusty, and maybe some of the others I've met before, plus some new ones. Especially that strange little Italian woman, we all know isn't so shy.
Lets find some way of putting this together on a budget.
I'd, maybe consider meeting some of you? ... ?
Sounds like fun, as long as I could put up with spending time with Cam again
Dusty, great to hear your flexible. Can you touch the floor when standing up? i can, even when standing on a chair!
Yes, but only while I'm lying down :-(
So, what sort of budget would we be looking at, and does everybody agree a weekend thing is good?
someone elses budget? lol and a weekend sounds like a possible idea.
hey!
just seen this topic! so did a meeting happen! damn this computer I can't read what I write. well i'm sure us irish would be interested in coming over well i would anyway lol
y
I would be interested, but for e it would need to be Windermere manor hotel or some where where the traveling isn'tto hard. I do like traveling but I only wish it wasn'tas hard some times. I would like to try out the special hotels fo theblind.
I raised the topic of a zone meeting-up on the quicknote console over the past few days, knowing that it would provoke interesting discussion, as to the idea and possible venue.
Most zoners are based in the US, of course, and there doesn't seem an adeuate number of us on this side of the pond to make up a good gathering.
Besides, what in the real world would we actually have in common, plus the fact that most topics on chatgroups and messageboards are merely in the leisure, i.e., done to pass the time, with no real intention of commitment or follow-through.
So, are we going to have a zone meeting-up UK sometime, somewhere? Highly unlikely, I'd say, as in nearly all cases, when push comes to shove, one or other party doesn't feel strongly enough to pursue the matter they invent all sorts of excuses for pulling back on the idea and that, my fellow-zoners, is the end of that.
Sure, I could be all wrong, but I dout it in this instance somehow.
Oops, I inadvertently omitted the word "abyss" after "leisure" in my previous post. Thus, I meant that most topics on these kind of boards are merely in the leisure abyss.
I also omitted the letter q in the word "adequate".
